Chromatography - a Student-Centered Lesson - GCSE Chemistry

Image
 1. Introduction The teacher introduces the new topic with  intrigue , tells that chromatography is used in pharmacy and industry, and that the previous exams had many questions on this topic.  The students write down in their notebooks the topic and sketch the lesson summary diagram. The teacher introduces the two objectives of the lesson. 2. Sticky notes - brainstorming - Aha Slides The students show their previous knowledge and creativity . Each student contributes 3 words to the word cloud. 3. Virtual experiment - can be done in the lab also The students do the experiment first and then interpret the results, before learning the theory. This constructivist approach allows the student to think for themselves.  - Recap about why plants are green - See the experiment video for 30 second - Try it yourself This experiment uses the  I do - We do - You do approach. 4.
