Prove that NEGATIVE times NEGATIVE gives POSITIVE - Real-life example

Image
You shall know that: +*+ = + +*-  = - -*+  = - -*-  = + But why? Here is a real-life example. Video: Prove that Negative Times Negative Gives Positive (youtube.com) Example 1: + +  Let's say you gain 2 dollars every day - the coefficient is  +2 How much the amount of money that you have would change in 3 days? - the number of days is +3 So the amount of money you earned in +3 days with +2 each day is 3*2 = +6 dollars   Example 2: - + How much money did you have 3 days ago comparing to now? -3 days  -3 days, times +2 dollars per day, -3*2 = -6 dollars Example 3: - - You spend 2 dollars each day - the coefficient is -2 How much money, comparing to now, you had 2 days ago? -2 days -2 dollars per day * -2 days ago, -2*-2 = +4 dollars

Can You Count in Base 12 or 20? 🧮⌚🐏

Image
Let's try this extracurricular activity. We count in base 10, because we have 10 fingers on both hands, and it is easy to count so. But it is not the only counting base used by people around the world. 1. We can count in DOZENS, on twelves. 12 hours in a day ⌚ 12x2 = 24 hours in a day and night 12x5 = 60 - seconds in a minute 12x5 = 60 - minutes in an hour Many people count eggs in dozens 🥚 12/2 = 6 - half-dozen 12x30 = 360 day, old year _______________________________________________________ Now let's use the base 12 ! 0           1           4           7           A              2           5           8           B              3           6        ...

Remember the Sin and Cos table. What is the sin of 30 degrees?

Image
Each angle can be measured in degrees. Do you know what are  90, 189, and 360 degrees ? And can you recognize 30, 45, and 60 degrees?     In mathematical calculations, usually we do not use degrees. The degrees have to be converted into a number. There are 3 trigonometrical numbers for each angle/ number of degrees - sin, cos , and tan .     Let's listen to a song of this Portuguese cat.  Listen on Youtube  (1) Gato matematico🤑 - YouTube Download  https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1irfdcFxk-SzELg0ySBcsXs4BgiD0KtBp?usp=share_link

Numeracy with The Prince of Persia - 1001 Nights - Multiplication

Image
Let's multiply together     In this story an evil Vizier captured the Princess in his palace. She has just 30 minutes to do a very tedious task - count a pile of grains. If not, she will not be able to marry the one she loves.      Can you help the princess? Good that we know how to multiply!  If one bucket has 200 000 grains, then 3 buckets will have 200 000 x 3 = 600 000 grains. The Lesson Plan 1. Powerpoint - the story of the Princess and Jaffar 2. Help the princess to count the grains - do one example with the whole class 3. Print the 2-sided worksheet. Each student does 7 examples by themselves Download the files https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1bX6f4j6Kc9H6Q6Xbww8ojVFuSWmeh49f?usp=sharing Download the files https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1bX6f4j6Kc9H6Q6Xbww8ojVFuSWmeh49f?usp=sharing \
