Numeracy with The Prince of Persia - 1001 Nights - Multiplication

    Let's multiply together

In this story an evil Vizier captured the Princess in his palace. She has just 30 minutes to do a very tedious task - count a pile of grains. If not, she will not be able to marry the one she loves.

Can you help the princess? Good that we know how to multiply! If one bucket has 200 000 grains, then 3 buckets will have
200 000 x 3 = 600 000 grains.

The Lesson Plan

1. Powerpoint - the story of the Princess and Jaffar
2. Help the princess to count the grains - do one example with the whole class
3. Print the 2-sided worksheet. Each student does 7 examples by themselves
